What is it?
The Sports and Fitness Short Course accredits up to 60 hours of involvement in various sporting activities,
Within the following areas:
· Skills and participation
· Coaching
· Fitness
· Sports study
What will I be doing?
The course is both practical and theoretical. Practical elements include taking part in a number of different sports and activities – Basketball, Football, Handball, Tennis, Rugby, Blind football, yoga, Fitness training and Circuit training.
It also involves learning skills in a sport as well as learning the rules of a game and experiencing refereeing these games. team work and working together is a major focus of the course.
Theory sessions will focus on diet and nutrition, drugs in sport, kit for a specific sport.
Skills and Knowledge Learned
Developing a range of sporting skills, working as part of a team, learning the rules of a game and carrying out independent sport-related research tasks.
Who is the course suitable for?
The course does require some level of personal fitness, but most
importantly, it needs students to be committed and enthusiastic about the option.
